The first set of commands to run will install the necessary repositories for yum to use. First issue:

rpm -ivh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-stable.noarch.rpm

Now it’s time to install the actual plugins for support. Issue the command:

yum -y install gstreamer-plugins-bad gstreamer-plugins-ugly xine-lib-extras-nonfree

Now your system will allow mp3 playback in the major players.

I noticed that the included audio player under Sound & Video in Fedora 10 has to 'Search' for codecs to actually play MP3's. It will not find them until you issue the above commands. Therefore, do not open the default Audio Player before issueing these commands. If you already have it opened, you may have to restart the audio player before it recognises the MP3 codec. If you have already imported your library then double click on an MP3 file to play so as to start the search for the codec. This will also install some extra codecs for DVD play back too.

In addition to this, I suggest you install VLC Media Player for Linux. It comes with its own set of codecs for DivX play back and is a really state of the art media player!
